Episode I
“Perrx (dxg)” is a series of video-performances that aims to guide us through the journey of “curiosity”, a dog type multiple entity that explores the world beyond the human performativity. Curiosity position themselves from listening and growling. This first chapter is the presentation of the character: how it relates to the world, how they perceive. This is expressed both visually and soundly.
As a performer, I used a puppy kinky mask. The mask is part of the Pet play culture, specifically puppy play. Puppy play is a role game where the person performs like a dog. In the community, there are different hierarchies and roles, such as owner, alpha, beta, wolf, fox, and so on. But there is also hybrid such as puppy-dragon, puppy-cat, puppy-wolf, and so on. Puppy play, in particular, is very gay male-dominated. My “Perrx”, dxg, aims to subvert this gay-male-dominated puppyness, exploring this becoming from a dissident non-binary body. Is also a process that aims for the exploration and reconfiguration of the self-identity/identities. I claim this performance as post-net because it translates the logic of avatars into the physical world. Is interesting how with the development of the internet there is a renewed claim on the fictionality/mythology of the configuration of identity. Cosplayers, cyborgs, furries have gained their own space in the physical world. Also, gaming culture is part of this process too. From a materialistic point of view, phantasy-alterity is just another modality of reality: it has its own performativities and logic.
