In that moment, when I wanted to unfurl my skin
The hidden touch of everything leaked through the cracks.
The surface became a living portrait of my sensitive, avatar.
From a thread desire sprouted, melting in a straight line,
a bend horizon where the shapes are lost
What are our identities? What we see, what we touch and manipulate define us. These sensations and objects return the gaze on us. We shape it and they shape us. Weave and unweave.
”Unweave” (video-performance) explores the relation between identity and the sensitive weave that creates us. The burlap allows the transformation of the human body into a malleable shape, an antropomorphic figure. At this point, the fabric is a second skin and camouflage, a shroud that guides us into the limits of life and death. The idea of human form enters into a bracketing; the body suspends in burlap, reaching a neutral state, a simple presence, a becoming.
Unweave is a tryptic of multiple possibilities of installation, that operates from performative sound and image.
Each video has their own sonority, that merges randomly in each reproduction. The source of these sounds was the documentation of a throat sing workshop given by action artist Anibal Sandoval. I digitally processed these sounds turning them into the spectral choirs of “Unweave”.
The performance documentation was in the laboratory “Video-performance: La Natura del Imagen Poético y su performatividad” given by Vest&Page. This laboratory was part of the experimental residence “Vortice” organized by INVE on April 2016, Valparaíso, Chile.

Destramar
En el momento en que quise desplegar mi piel,
el roce oculto del todo se filtró entre las rendijas.
El soporte se transformó en rostro, avatar;
desde la hebra brota el deseo que se funde en una línea recta,
horizonte curvo donde se pierde la forma.
¿Cuáles son las identidades que se entrecruzan en nosotros? Lo que vemos, lo que tocamos y manipulamos nos conforma, consume: nos devuelven la mirada. Los modelamos y nos modelan. Tramamos y destramamos.
Las imágenes presentadas consisten en una exploración sensible entre el cuerpo y la arpillera, material industrial común, segunda piel, camuflaje, mortaja antropomorfa que nos guía entre la vida y la muerte. Lo humano se suspende en el material crudo, el cuerpo se homogeniza en la trama, se aplana en la imagen. Reaparece como neo-quimera deconstruída. La presencia se transforma en una corporalidad híbrida.
Destramar es un tríptico de múltiples formas de representación – lineal, simultánea, superpuesta – que opera desde lo sonoro, visual y performativo.
Cada video tiene su propia sonoridad que se mezclan entre sí aleatoriamente; se entrecruzan en un canto multiplicado, azaroso, complejo, repetitivo. En el registro la fuente del sonido proviene de un taller de cantos armónicos impartido por el artista Aníbal Sandoval, en el baño de la Posada de María. Este registro sonoro fue posteriormente procesado de manera espectral, por medio de un software de edición de audio.
El registro fue realizado en el contexto del laboratorio “Video-performance: La Natura del Imagen Poético y su performatividad” guiado por Vest&Page. En el marco de la de 2ª Residencia de Video Experimental VÓRTICE, organizada por INVE, Plataforma Experimental de Artes. Abril. Valparaíso, Chile.
